How's this for a cool photo? This shot is of a tandem skydive just as the canopy has been opened. Below is the Waiho River, green farmland and native forest. The semicircle shaped land feature covered in trees is called the Waiho Loop. The 80 metre high Loop is a terminal moraine, which is a ridge that formed at the front of Franz Josef Glacier when it reached this far from the mountains about 12,000 years ago. The glacier has retreated but the Waiho Loop remains as a reminder of how big the glacier was.
